Paolo Melgari – Lead Engineer, Advanced Coatings
Prof Louis Piper Group at WMG – University of Warwick
Paolo has over 15 years of industrial experience in developing Thin Films Technologies such as ALD, PVD, CVD, slot die coating and printing processes, and implementing them at various scale for Interfaces Engineering of Electronic Devices (Batteries, Fuel Cells, Electrolysers and Photovoltaics).
Postgraduate researcher on a collaborative project developing CVD for in-line glass coating processing lead by Pilkington NSG. Previously Material Scientist at TATA Photovoltaics developing semiconducting materials by CVD for building-integrated flexible large area photovoltaics. Progressed through various stages of career in CPI from 2013 to 2022 and was Principal Scientist in Electronic Materials and Devices, before moving to be Lead Engineer, Advanced Coatings, at Warwick Manufacturing Group in November 2022. His work involves the surface modification and characterisation of higher energy density electrode materials for Li-ion batteries with a focus on “beyond NMC-811” metal oxide compositions for high-capacity cathodes.
